The deceased was born Sept. 18,1886 in Joplin, Mo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Truman and was married to Miss Gypsy Purcell of Sherman in 1918. Living in Sherman since a young man, he had operated a blacksmith shop for a number of hears, retiring in 1938 on account of ill health. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Gravette, Ark., and a member of the First Baptist church. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Miss Margaret Truman of Sherman; two brothers, Grant Truman of Bartlesville, Okla., J. H. Truman of Pacific Grove, Calif; one half-brother Fred Truman of Sherman; on sister, Mrs. Emily Harp of Tulsa, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.

H. Wiles officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery. Miss Truman was born in Hardin county, Ky., oldest girl in a family of nine children. Their mother died when the youngest sister, Mrs. Richard A. Armstrong, 614 West Brower street, was a baby of three. Miss Truman kept house for her father and reared her younger brothers and sisters. “She was the only mother we ever knew,” said Mrs. Armstrong today. Sixty years ago the family moved to Springfield. Miss Truman had lived with Mrs. Armstrong for the past 47 years. She formerly did practical nursing here. Miss Truman was an active member of Grant Avenue Baptist church. She died at the home of Mrs. Armstrong at 1:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon, after a long illness. Mrs. Armstrong is the only survivor of the family of nine, but Miss Truman is survived by 13 nieces and six nephews. Pallbearers will be John Kitchen, Charles Kitchen, Ralph Steere, E.L. White, William B. Kelly and Roy Thomason.6
